Flesh and Blood

This song is fabulous at getting one up and about in the morning... I find that a good, upbeat tune is better than coffee. Seriously.

Also, I'm thinking of changing my hair... I'd be doing an ombre-ish thing, with my natural colour (dark blonde) on most of my hair, then bleached ends. Although I love my silver hair (which i really, really do), it's got to the point where I can't handle the damage any more. Breakage from bleaching becomes such a pain in the ass.

American Boy

These socks are less 'in your face' than most of the 'stars and stripes' garments knocking around at the moment.

Sorry about the 'busy' photograph; it was taken in a friends kitchen.

24.9.11

I've been pretty tied down what with going back to school recently, so haven't been posting as much as I'd like. I'm starting to plan my posts more, so hopefully posts should be appearing more regularly and frequently!

This was just what I was wearing at home last night. I figured it was better than nothing!

Bargain outfit too.

The lovely looking scab you can see on my foot is a legacy of that bonding weekend. Still not completely over that... If any of you are planning to go to such a thing (why?) here are a few things that I learnt;

- Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream really is incredible. Cuts, grazes and cracked lips, you name it, it solves it.

- A second towel wouldn't go amiss.

- Take at least 10 pairs of socks/pants.

10.9.11

I've had a fun filled weekend so far (terrible feeling that's about to change due to the coursework/instrumental practice I have to do)...

Today I 'ombred' Summer's hair - the first time I've done this (been itching to try it on somebody!) and it turned out well, it's actually less coppery than in the photos and more orangey/dark blonde! For those of you who're interested in how I did it: I did an all over medium brown colour (aside from the ends to be 'ombred') before bleaching (in foil) the ends for 15 minutes with a 30vol developer and blue bleach! I then bleached the very ends of the hair again for another 10 minutes or so to improve the 'gradation' of the tone.

Sorry about the bad quality photos ^

I also got my helix pierced today - I originally wanted a grey metal stud, but the piercing studio I went to only did bars or rings because they choose to pierce with needles, not a gun, so a ring it was! I'm still a smidge unsure about it (because I didn't expect to be getting a ring) but it's gradually growing on me.

Anyway, when it's all healed  up (6 months...!) I can put a stud in.

Back to School

Once again, it's that time of year. What is, to most people, a time of bucking up, sitting up straight and pulling up one's socks, is to me a prime time for fashion experimentation and a time to push the boundaries of institutional style.
I am, of course, talking about 'back to school'. Whether you're heading back to school, continuing your college education or starting Uni, September is the perfect time to explore the relationship between study and style.
I'm starting the sixth form, which means no more uniform for me. My school has a 'smart' dress code, but luckily for me the meaning of 'smart' is unclear...

I think my favourite thing about this outfit is the contrast between the waistcoat and the trousers.

Hipsters.

This is a very short little message to apologise for the neglect of my duties as a Wannabe Hipster. I realise it's been almost a week since I posted on 'Confessions of a Wannabe Hipster', but having been on this outward bound weekend (god awful) and returned with an injured foot, a cold and a stress related spot breakout (god awful), and having just returned to school, I've been slightly overwhelmed by other aspects of my life...

Normal Hipster activities will be resumed by Friday. I promise.
